and technology professionals, educators, and students.

Our lead adjudicator this year for our design competition is Bryan Johnson! We are so excited to welcome him back to our annual symposium and can't wait for all the helpful feedback he will provide. Mark your calendars for January 14-15. Hope to see you all there!

Bryan Johnson is an award-winning Props and Special Effects Designer, Artist and Illustrator in the entertainment industry. His work has been seen on stage and screen, in the form of theatre, opera, live sporting events, film and television. Bryan’s work can still be seen on stage, nightly with Blue Man Group-Las Vegas. Bryan was the Lead Props and Special Effects Technician from 2010 to 2015, where he fabricated, maintained, operated and designed elements for the long-running hit show.

Bryan was awarded the 2010 KCACTF National Design award for his Special Effects design for the Tulsa Community College production of Elektra and is also a three-time KCACTF Region 6 award recipient. Bryan’s work has appeared worldwide in publications, including “Lighting & Sound America” and "Stage Directions" magazine, where he is a contributing writer.  Bryan’s theatrical body of work includes; Props Design and Fabrication, Theatrical Illustration, Magic/Illusion Design, Mask Making, Puppetry, Lighting Design and Special Effects Makeup. Bryan has taught Prop Design at the university level, as well as presented lectures and workshops all over the United States and for global audiences. Bryan Johnson is a member of the Society of Props Artisans Managers, the Stan Winston School of Character Arts, a former faculty member with The Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas and remains an active mentor and presenter with KCACTF and SW-USITT.

Our Annual Symposium will take place January 13-15, 2023 at Reedy High School in Frisco, TX.
